This lady misplaced £ 100. Your story has a lesson for everybody.

When Tina Cox-Vega reached her highest weight so far, she had a terrible thought: "I killed myself with food." So she lost 100 pounds – and got her life back.


Tina Cox-Vega stepped on the scales.

"265," said the doctor.

Tina's heart sank. At the time, she was 44 years old. Her weight had increased for years. Still, at 5-foot-6, she never thought it would be that high.

She drove home. Then cried.

"I knew I was on my way to £ 300. I felt so heavy and confident. I needed special accommodations everywhere. "

Tina felt locked in by her body. The extra pounds increased her chronic knee pain. Stairway? Forget it. Nor could she stand long, which gave the impression that her life would slip away without her participation.

Tina was looking for excuses not to accompany her family and friends to concerts and amusement parks. She just couldn't keep up without resting. In addition, the long wait for a roller coaster would be unbearable: When it was her turn, she was worried that the attendant would say: "I'm sorry, Ma & # 39; am, but the dishes will not be closed."

For years Tina had said that one day she would fix things.

But that day in the doctor's office, she knew that "one day" had arrived.

Uncovering this “why” has fueled Tina so much that she has committed to the program. "I read every lesson quietly. I've done every habit, every workshop, every training, ”she says.

At first, Tina struggled because of her knee problems. But her trainer Denise Allen offered her alternative exercises and Tina's fitness slowly improved.

Tina took the PN approach of finding ways to do things "just a little better" and took small steps towards her goals.

She took the stairs at work instead of the elevator – even though she was so agitated at first that she wasn't sure if she would make it. Soon she purposely parked in the farthest part of the property. Her old handicapped permit collected dust in the glove compartment.

Next she stopped relying on television to rock her to sleep. She used meditation to relax.

Tina also saw physical results. Her weight dropped and her whole body changed. When she looked at photos of herself, she saw a new woman.

But around the halfway point of the program, something happened that brought Tina's results into high gear.

One day Tina posted in the PN coaching Facebook group and asked for recipes that she could make with her daughters.

Two weeks later, she received a package in the mail. Denise, her trainer, had sent it to her Gourmet nutrition Cookbook. Inside, Denise had written, "I want you to know you can do this."

"I was literally in tears," says Tina. "I thought, 'Wow, she really doesn't care. She wants me to succeed. "

By the end of the year, Tina had lost 60 pounds and 50 inches. Her crippling knee pain was gone and the clouds of depression had cleared. For the first time in a long time, she felt happy, strengthened, and very much alive.

Tina was no longer afraid of dying. She was too busy to live.

This train of thought, popularized by The Shawshank Redemption, applied to Tina. And she wasn't done yet. With Denise's encouragement, Tina signed for a second year as a coach.

Towards the end of the second year, Tina stepped on the scales, looked down, and called 165. She had lost 100 pounds.

“I took a picture of the scales that day so I can always remember them,” she says.

Sometimes Tina can hardly believe her transformation. Neither do your children.

"You drove past and saw your mother, believe it or not, jogging," she laughs.

Tina even plays volleyball again, a sport she loved in high school. "I've got my trust back," she says.

Perhaps the best thing is the renewed bond with her daughters. Tina can now spend an entire afternoon on the go without taking a break or worrying about special accommodations.
